Overview:

The Woodworking Machine Operator is responsible for custom milling solid lumber using manual manufacturing equipment including planers, jointer, straight line rip, table, and radial saws, sanders, and routers. They are physically capable of performing the day-to-day operations and has a solid understanding of the English language both verbally and in written form. They have a strong sense of professional pride and the ability to multitask and thrive in a dynamic and growing work environment.

 

Role:

Custom mills lumber to specification ensuring accuracy and quality control.

Works independently and at times with others using our shop’s planers, jointer, straight line rip saw, band saw, table saw, radial arm saw, sander and routers.

Assists with manufacturing custom laminated products such as stair treads, countertops, tabletops and sign blanks.

Carefully packages orders for shipping.

When needed will be asked to assist in the warehouse with lumber warehousing, picking of material for processing and to provide customer service.

Maintains a clean and safe working environment, is safety minded, looking out for their safety and those around them.

 

Qualities:

Attention to detail and quality while carrying out both varied and repetitive work. Lumber milling and carpentry skills, able to learn species knowledge.

Capable of handling physically demanding work.

Comfortable with basic math, is tape measure savvy and able to process work orders.

Is communicative, takes direction to learn and work independently or when partnered with others. Confident to ask questions and engage with co-workers.

Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday, 8:00am 4:30pm.

Pay rate: 18-20$/hr based on experience

Compensation:

  • Hourly Wages
  • Vacation, see chart below
  • Fiscal year end profit sharing
  • Birthday day off (if falls on weekend/holiday in lieu of)
