Job Full Description
Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our client’s well-established, client-focused Chartered Professional Accounting firm.
Responsibilities:
· Perform full-cycle bookkeeping, including HST/GST filings and accurate financial record maintenance
· Manage payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate payments, deductions, and government remittances
· Prepare personal and corporate tax returns in compliance with current tax legislation and identify tax optimization opportunities
· Prepare complete working paper files for clients using Caseware software, including all supporting documentation
· Conduct bank reconciliations and analyze/reconcile General Ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
· Prepare and finalize Financial Statements and Corporate Tax returns following professional standards
· Perform Profit & Loss (P&L) analysis to provide insights into client financial performance
· Draft final letters to clients and complete all required checklists and documentation for each engagement
Requirements:
· A university degree in commerce or business administration with a concentration in accounting is preferred
· CPA designation is an asset
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a public accounting firm
· Self-motivated, quick to learn, and able to maintain strict confidentiality
· Detail-oriented, organized, flexible, and able to work well under pressure
· Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and client service skills
· Knowledge of tax laws, GAAP, assurance, and auditing standards
· Familiarity with Xero, Caseware, Profile, Sage, and QuickBooks
· Proficient in bookkeeping and payroll processes
Our client offers:
· 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, with summer Fridays off
· Salary range of $50,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience
