Role Purpose

 

The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving business growth by prospecting, qualifying, and converting leads generated through marketing efforts and personal outreach. This role requires a proactive, self-motivated professional who can manage the full sales cycle, foster strong client relationships, and meet or exceed revenue targets.


Key Responsibilities

Sales Execution & Lead Conversion

  • Actively seek out new sales opportunities through cold calling, networking, social media, and inbound lead follow-up.
  • Manage the full sales cycle—from prospecting to closing—to convert leads into long-term customers.
  • Maintain and expand a database of prospects within the assigned territory.
  • Promote products and services to clients, negotiate contracts, and maximize profitability.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with both new and existing clients, from small businesses to executive-level accounts.
  • Develop tailored account growth strategies to increase customer spend and loyalty.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, leveraging the full suite of fastener products and solutions to address client needs.
  • Set up meetings with potential clients, actively listening to their goals and concerns.

Strategic Account & Market Insight

  • Create and execute customized growth plans for key accounts.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Inside Sales, QC, and Credit teams to deliver seamless solutions.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and pricing to maintain a competitive advantage.

Technology-Driven Sales

  • Use CRM, ERP systems, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator to manage leads, track pipeline, and forecast sales.
  • Analyze KPIs and sales data to refine strategies and improve performance.

Other Duties

  • Provide feedback to improve products and customer success strategies.
  • Troubleshoot customer issues and escalate unresolved matters to the appropriate department.
  • Attend sales meetings, product seminars, trade shows, and training sessions.
  • Commit to continuous learning of products, services, and advanced sales techniques.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5–7 years of business-to-business (B2B) sales or consulting experience, preferably in the fastener, industrial distribution, or MRO industry.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and sales automation tools.
  • Organized, independent, and able to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred:

  • 10+ years of outside sales experience managing a $5M+ revenue portfolio.
  • Deep knowledge of fasteners, industrial consumables, or manufacturing supply chain solutions.
  • Bilingual (English/French) for engagement with Quebec-based clients.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a results-driven mindset.
