Job Full Description
Job Title: Shipper/Receiver
Pay: $26/hour
Location: Mississauga
Hours of Work: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm (From time to time it may be necessary to perform overtime work to meet customer demands)
Requirement: Minimum 5 years of experience.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Package all materials as per customer requirements.
- Package all materials using best judgment in the absence of customer requirements.
- Arrange all outbound shipments with the specified carrier as per the customer.
- Arrange best way method in the absence of a specified carrier.
- Supply the production staff with material and packaging supplies as required.
- Receive and unload all incoming materials and put away in proper locations.
- Fill out and hand in all associated receiving paperwork each day.
- Control all associated shipping paperwork and turn in daily.
- Perform daily checks on the forklifts and check propane stock.
- Oversee all general duties of the shipping department.
- Use appropriate safety equipment as per company policies.
- Keep warehouse and shipping area clean and tidy at all times.
- Ensure adequate supply of packaging materials on hand and purchase or inform purchasing of items needed.
- Report all issues immediately to Lead Hand and or Operations Manager.
- Ensure adequate supply of packaging materials on hand.
- Courteous and professional attitude with customers and their representatives at all times.
Quality Control:
- Package all materials to ensure that it is not damaged during shipping and handling.
- Verify that materials are correct as per the packing slip.
- Verify that all shipments are appropriately packed and in good order prior to leaving.
- Sign off on all packing slips after material has been loaded or packaged to ensure correct material, quantity, and piece size.
- Ensure that there is a minimum of two signatures per packing slip.
- Report all issues to the Operations Manager immediately.
- Perform regular cycle count as required.
Training:
- Train staff members in the correct packaging of goods and shipments to ensure that it is not damaged during any shipping and handling.
- Train staff members in the correct procedures for both inbound receiving and outbound shipping of materials.
- Train staff members in the paperwork procedures associated with shipping.
- Train staff members in identifying and locating of materials in stock.
Job Requirements:
- 5 years of experience.
- Valid counterbalance forklift license.
- Proficient in all aspects of shipping and receiving methods and paperwork.
- Good knowledge and ability to use computers and information technology efficiently.
- Good knowledge of inventory control and cycle count.
- Product knowledge desirable – if not known, rapid product knowledge retention is essential.
- Self-starter with ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Excellent decision making abilities.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable seeking and accepting direction from the others.
