Job Title: Shunter (AZ License)
Located in Mississauga, ON
Pay: $22-$25
Duration: 8 Weeks
Job Requirements:
- Experience with Manual Transmission
- Experience in pulling B-train trailers.
- Valid Class A, AZ, or Class 1 driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
- 3 years of experience operating tractor/trailer units, preferably in shunting.
- Proficient in operating forklifts; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with city roads and yard operations; understanding of safety standards and regulations.
- Ability to lift to 50lb and perform tasks in various weather conditions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Safely and efficiently move trailers in and out of bays as required, ensuring proper staging for repairs and afternoon shifts.
- Maintain an orderly and clean yard, optimizing trailer placement to facilitate smooth operations and prevent congestion.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, promptly reporting any hazardous situations to the Service Manager.
- Perform routine checks and maintenance on shunting tractors to meet internal and government standards.
- Greet internal and external customers and suppliers professionally upon arrival.
- Assist with the pickup and delivery of customer trailers for the service department in a timely and safe manner.
- Regularly meet with the service team to maintain effective communication and address any operational issues.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate waste, increase capacity, and improve productivity within the yard.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Service Manager or delegate.
