Job Full Description
Location: Mississauga
Reports to: Production Supervisor or Plant Manager
Role purpose:
To apply powder primer coatings to parts as needed (often the base coat before finishing), ensuring adhesion, coverage, proper curing, and prep for finishing layers. Also to set up, clean, and maintain equipment used in this stage.
Key Responsibilities:

Set up the primer powder application equipment (guns, booths, conveyor, etc.).

Prepare parts: ensure priming surfaces are properly cleaned, masked if needed.

Apply powder primer per specifications (thickness, color, surface finish).

Monitor curing ovens/curing processes; verify that primer is fully cured.

Check adhesion, surface defects, rectify issues (e.g. touch‑ups, rework).

Clean, maintain, and calibrate primer coating equipment; ensure filtration, powder recovery, overspray control.

Keep track of stock of primer powders, ensure proper handling and storage.

Follow safety procedures regarding powder handling, ventilation, PPE.

Document work: batch records, quality checks, issues, etc.
Qualifications:
-
Prior experience applying powder coatings, especially primer stage.

Understanding of powder chemistry, adhesion, curing parameters.

Ability to set, clean, adjust spraying equipment.

Good eye for detail; ability to detect surface defects.

Reliable, safety‑conscious.
