Our client is seeking a Shipping Specialist to manage domestic and international shipping operations. This role is responsible for coordinating shipments, preparing customs documentation, maintaining HS classifications, and ensuring compliance with import/export and cross-border trade regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with carriers, suppliers, and logistics partners.
- Prepare and verify shipping, customs, and export documentation.
- Maintain accurate HS code classifications for products.
- Monitor tariff, duty, and trade regulation changes.
- Work with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure timely customs clearance.
- Resolve shipping delays, customs issues, and freight claims.
- Track shipments and provide status updates to internal teams.
- Identify opportunities to reduce freight, duty, and landed costs.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian, U.S., and international shipping regulations.
Job Experience
- Minimum 3 years of shipping, logistics, or import/export experience.
- Strong understanding of HS codes, customs procedures, and tariff classifications.
- Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
- Knowledge of Canada-U.S. cross-border shipping requirements.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and shipping/logistics systems.
Job Education
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field is an asset.
