Job Title: Production Supervisor
Department: Operations
Reports To: Production Manager

Job Summary:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for planning and managing day-to-day resource allocation for designated shifts to achieve performance targets efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively. This role involves maintaining high standards of product quality, safety, housekeeping, and hygiene, as well as coaching and developing team members to meet business requirements.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Supervise employees to ensure safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Achieve budgeted targets for raw material yield, labor, and packaging materials usage.
  • Collaborate with team members in other departments to ensure timely shipment of products.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of shift production data.
  • Maintain high GMP/housekeeping standards within the department.
  • Develop and recommend improvements to facilities, equipment, or procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company QA standards, SOPs, HACCP, and GMPs.
  • Foster positive working relationships and engagement among team members.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members; manage employment decisions and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Department to resolve production line downtime.
  • Conduct safety, quality, and housekeeping walkthroughs throughout the shift.
  • Implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Monitor and review team members' time and attendance for accuracy.

Key Accountabilities:
Safety:

  • Adhere to all plant safety rules and participate in safety programs.
  • Report near misses and accidents to management or HR representative.

Quality:

  • Adhere to Quality Assurance System guidelines and SOPs.
  • Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, and SQF programs.
  • Maintain accurate processing area documentation.

Maintenance:

  • Assist Maintenance Technicians during maintenance activities.
  • Report equipment issues promptly to avoid breakdowns.

Housekeeping:

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Uphold high GMP/housekeeping standards within the department.

Communications:

  • Ensure effective communication and teamwork among team members and departments.
  • Possess strong interpersonal communication skills, including conflict resolution.

Teamwork and Training:

  • Contribute to the development of a strong team culture.
  • Coach and train employees; promote personal development.

Personal Development:

  • Continuously improve knowledge of packing room processes.
  • Adhere to the training schedule.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage production shift employees and priorities.
  • Provide direction, evaluation, and coaching to assigned shift.
  • Resolve employee issues and manage performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in agriculture and/or food processing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Chinese preferred but not required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and multitasking skills.

Additional Considerations:

  • Location: Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
  • Shift: Day shift position, Monday-Saturday.
  • Work Environment: Majority of work performed in a production environment.
