Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Operations Supervisor to oversee shredding and pelletizing operations. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and quality. Maintenance and troubleshooting skills are critical, as the position involves working with mechanical systems and automated equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the shredding and pelletizing departments.
- Supervise and coach employees to ensure productivity, safety, and quality standards are met.
- Organize workflow and assign responsibilities based on priorities.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies, including:
- Ministry of Labour (MOL)
- Ministry of the Environment (MOE)
- Electrical Safety Authority (ESA)
- Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA)
- Niagara Falls Fire Department
- Operate and troubleshoot equipment such as forklifts, shredders, compactors, and pelletizers.
- Perform and oversee critical maintenance tasks, including:
- Changing blades on compactors and pelletizers
- Greasing and lubricating machinery
- Repairing, replacing, and tracking conveyor belts
- Changing cutters on the shredder rotor
- Diagnose and resolve issues with PLC-controlled systems
- Ensure safe use of all processing equipment, following user manuals and safety procedures.
- Monitor production output to ensure daily targets are achieved.
- Ensure the quality of finished products meets specified standards.
- Submit performance and progress reports to management.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements.
- Train new employees on machinery operation, troubleshooting, and safety protocols.
- Enforce company policies related to workplace safety, harassment, and substance abuse.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free plant environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
- Working knowledge of PLC systems (Programmable Logic Controllers).
- Forklift license required.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and technical documentation.
- Solid understanding of workplace safety regulations and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
