Job Title: Sanitization Technician – Production & Food Industry

Reports To: Production Supervisor / Sanitation Manager

Position Summary:
The Sanitization Technician is responsible for performing cleaning and sanitizing duties in our production facility to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company standards. This role supports production by maintaining hygienic conditions of equipment, floors, walls, and work areas, helping to prevent contamination and ensure product safety.
Key Responsibilities:

Clean and sanitize production equipment, machinery, tools, and surfaces according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Sanitary Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).

Disassemble and reassemble equipment as needed to ensure thorough cleaning.

Clean production areas including floors, walls, ceilings, drains, and high-touch surfaces.

Use appropriate chemical sanitizers and cleaning agents safely and efficiently, ensuring proper dilution and application.

Operate cleaning equipment such as power washers, foamers, scrubbers, and lifts.

Follow lockout/tagout procedures to ensure equipment safety before cleaning.

Maintain detailed cleaning logs and documentation for compliance with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, CFIA).

Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or sanitation issues to supervisors promptly.

Assist in inventory management of cleaning supplies and chemicals.

Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Participate in sanitation audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous experience in food production or manufacturing sanitation preferred but not required.

Ability to follow detailed instructions, SOPs, and safety protocols accurately.

Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards (HACCP, GMP, CFIA) is an asset.

Comfortable handling cleaning chemicals and wearing appropriate PPE.

Physically capable of standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, climbing ladders, and working in wet or cold environments.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.

Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
