Electrical Engineer – Manufacturing Plant Startup

About the Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to join our client's team in a manufacturing facility. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a greenfield startup project supporting the growth of the clean energy and electric vehicle sector.
As part of the Engineering & Maintenance team, the Electrical Engineer will play a key role in ensuring operational readiness by supporting equipment installation, commissioning, and the ongoing maintenance of complex systems. This role combines hands-on technical work with strategic planning to ensure equipment performance, safety compliance, and plant reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Startup / Construction Phase
· Assist with electrical scope during construction and capital projects from concept to closeout.
· Support the installation and commissioning of equipment including extrusion, bonding, ovens, winding, slitting, packaging, and web handling systems.
· Troubleshoot electrical issues and ensure safe installation of systems.
· Update electrical documentation and ensure accuracy of line drawings in document control systems.
Post-Startup / Operational Phase
· Develop and implement preventative maintenance strategies in collaboration with the Maintenance Leader.
· Collect and analyze maintenance data; issue regular reports (weekly, monthly, annually).
· Lead electrical troubleshooting efforts to minimize downtime and support production reliability.
· Ensure adherence to environmental, occupational safety, and health standards.
· Evaluate system performance and recommend improvements for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications
Education:
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering (required)
Experience:
· Minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing or industrial environment, focused on equipment maintenance and repair
· Experience in capital projects and/or new facility construction (preferred)
· Knowledge of electrical system design and interpretation of construction and line drawings
Technical Skills:
· Proficient in AutoCAD (standard or electrical) and Microsoft Office Suite
· Strong knowledge of NEC, ISA, and NEMA codes and standards
· Familiar with 480V and below power circuits, motor controls, and control systems (temperature, pressure)

Other Requirements
· Willingness to travel up to 15% (domestically and internationally) for training or coordination
· Flexible to work outside standard hours for emergencies, meetings, or startup needs
· Capable of lifting up to 35 lbs and moving objects during site inspections
Work Environment
· This role will initially be based on or near a construction site in a temporary facility, transitioning to a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant by 2026.
· The environment includes working around chemicals, moving machinery, and complex equipment.
· The final facility will operate 24/7 and maintain strict temperature and humidity control to ensure product quality and process efficiency.
· The position has been identified as safety-sensitive and requires adherence to all health and safety protocols.
