Our Scarborough client, one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, a leading manufacturer of custom design fine furniture, is looking for a Woodworker /Sander to join their dynamic team!

Responsibilities:
- General shop duties including moving, lifting, and cutting of wood and wood products.
- Use of manual woodworking machines including saws, lathes, planers, edgers, drill press, nailers, staplers, and sanding machines
- Sand wood, wood veneer, and plastic laminate in preparation for finishing
- Apply edging/banding and glue-down veneer to custom tabletops
- Apply and trim plastic laminate using contact cement and edge finishing technique
- Cut, shape, and assemble wood, MDF, plywood and composite materials
- Inspect and ensure quality of products produced
- Read and interpret drawings, schematics and blueprints
- Strict adherence to company policy, procedures, and guidelines
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Heavy lifting of 50+lbs repetitively
Qualifications and Skills:
- 3-5 years of Woodworking and Sanding experience
- 3-5 years of experience working with hand tools or power tools
- Experience working with plastic laminate and veneer
- Experience working in a woodworking manufacturing environment
- Able to read and use measuring tools (calipers, squares, tape measure)
- Regularly lift 50lbs
- Solid understanding of blueprints and drawings
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and dependable
- Comfortable working in a noisy/dusty environment
- Physically fit, comfortable standing on feet for long periods of time
Bonus Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a production environment (asset)
- Great attitude to work in a team environment and have an aptitude for learning new things
- Coachable, team player and able to follow directions
Compensation and Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:25am to 4:25pm / Friday: 7:25am to 1:25pm
- Pay Rate: $22- $25 per hour
