Job Full Description
Our client is a respected Niagara Tool and Die company, employing over 90 people in the skilled trades. They focus on quality production of specialized tool parts for their clients. They are hiring a skilled Technical Service Representative to join their Sales team. This candidate will be involved in efficient quoting, investigating machining processes with the Engineering team, and obtaining/delivery pricing and quotes to team members and clients. This is a unique position with a great mix of industrial administrative duties, quoting, and technical support related to machining.
Position Summary:
Provide technical service to internal team and clients. Identify if parts can be manufactured withing the machine shop, alongside the Engineering and Sales teams. Prior experience in the CNC machining and manufacturing industries is required for this position.
You must have a strong understanding of CNC, milling, turning, grinding, wire EDM, and assembly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for raw materials, and additional processes for customers specifications of our precision manufactured parts.
- Aid in the preparation of detailed and competitive quotes as follows:
1. Determine machining process (the best way to make the part) and estimate the machining times required to make the part.
2. Obtain competitive pricing/delivery quotes for raw material and special additional processes for the parts.
3. Be able to identify if a part has technical difficulties to manufacture within the company’s in-house capabilities. Work with internal production and engineering team to come up with a plan to manufacture.
- Facilitate smooth transitions from the quoting phase to the job handoff phase by ensuring clear communication of project details to the job planning/engineering team during order hand off. This will also require reaching out to vendors to make sure their quotes are still valid.
- Work closely with the sales team to understand client expectations and collaborate on developing solutions that meet both technical and commercial requirements.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to uphold high-quality standards and address any issues related to product specifications.
- Collaborate with Sales team to provide technical expertise to clients, and prospects, to address inquiries related to precision machining processes and capabilities.
- Stay informed about industry advancements, technological trends, and competitor offerings to contribute valuable insights to the company's growth strategy.
Qualifications:
- Experience in CNC machining/manufacturing including milling, turning, grinding, wire/sink edm and assembly. Also, quoting, mechanical engineering, quality/inspection of machined parts or a related field.
- Keen attention to detail is required. Familiar with GD&T an asset
- High level of organizational skills and time management.
- Ability to work overtime on occasion to meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of materials and processes used in precision machining and their properties.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools for quoting and project organization.
