Express Employment Professionals is hiring for a respected Beamsville manufacturer who is expanding. We are seeking a CO2 Laser Programmer/Operator who is a skilled manufacturing team member responsible for creating, testing, and implementing CNC (Computer Numerical Control) programs to guide CO2 laser cutting machines. .
This is a full time, Direct Hire, permanent job, paying between $28-30/hr. The candidate will analyze blueprints, convert CAD drawings into machine code (G-code), and optimize cut paths to maximize material usage and efficiency. This role often involves both offline programming and on-machine operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance, primarily working with metals.
Key Responsibilities
- Programming & Nesting: Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software (Bysoft).
- Machine Operation: Set up and operate CO2 laser machines, including loading materials, selecting lenses, and adjusting gas and focus settings.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and cut lists.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications using precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance on laser machinery and troubleshoot cutting issues such as edge quality, alignment, and machine faults.
- Workflow Optimization: Maximize material utilization (nesting) to reduce waste and optimize cutting speeds.
- RFPs/RFQs: Vendor management, handling requests, estimating materials, costs, job time, and ensuring maximum capacity of loads for the Laser Cutting Machines.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing protective gear, maintaining a clean work area, and ensuring proper ventilation.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3+ years of experience operating and programming CO2 laser cutting machines, preferably in a sheet metal fabrication environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, knowledge of G-code/M-code, and experience with nesting software.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of machine functions and ability to perform minor repairs.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (common requirement).
- Specific Machine Knowledge: Familiarity with brands such as Bystonic
