            Job Full Description

            Spacecraft Thermal Engineer

Location: Hybrid (GTA)
 Type: Full-Time

Why this role matters
Help spacecraft survive the impossible — from blistering solar heat to the cold vacuum of orbit. You’ll be part of the engineering team designing the thermal control systems that keep missions alive. This is a hands-on technical role where your work directly determines whether a spacecraft thrives in space or doesn’t make it past the launch pad.

About the company
Our client is a leading aerospace manufacturer pushing the boundaries of spacecraft design and production. Known for precision engineering and innovation, the team delivers mission-critical systems for both government and commercial clients — combining cutting-edge modeling with real-world spaceflight performance.

The role
You’ll lead the design, analysis, and testing of thermal systems that protect spacecraft from extreme conditions. From simulations to validation, you’ll ensure every component operates within exacting limits — and you’ll do it alongside some of the smartest engineers in the industry.

What you’ll own
- Design and develop spacecraft thermal control systems — both passive and active — built for extreme environments.

- Perform detailed thermal analysis and simulations using Siemens NX or equivalent tools.

- Build and refine thermal mathematical models (TMMs) for components, subsystems, and full spacecraft.

- Conduct vacuum and thermal balance testing to validate system performance.

- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure integrated thermal performance.

- Define thermal requirements and participate in design reviews from concept through launch.

- Troubleshoot thermal anomalies during integration, test, or mission operations.

- Prepare documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Who will thrive here
- You’ve spent 3+ years working on spacecraft or satellite thermal systems.

- You’re fluent in heat transfer — conduction, convection, radiation — and love applying it to real missions.

- You’re comfortable using Siemens NX or similar thermal analysis tools.

- You’ve designed or tested thermal hardware like radiators, heat pipes, multilayer insulation (MLI), or heaters.

- You’re analytical, collaborative, and thrive on solving problems that don’t have easy answers.

Nice to have
- Experience with small satellites (CubeSats or microsats).

- Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.

- Familiarity with spacecraft environmental testing and systems engineering.

What’s in it for you
- Hybrid flexibility, competitive salary and benefits package, and the chance to own high-impact engineering projects from start to launch.

- Work on actual spacecraft headed for orbit — not just simulations.

- Join a high-performance team driving the next wave of Canadian space innovation.

- An organization where professional growth and development is encouraged.
