Production Supervisor – Manufacturing

We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to join a high-volume bakery manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will lead the production line team and manage daily operations focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. This role demands adherence to GMP standards and Health and Safety guidelines while fostering teamwork and driving the achievement of production objectives.
 
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate production line activities to meet the schedule, output targets, and quality standards.
 
- Cultivate a continuous improvement mindset by identifying and implementing process and product enhancements aimed at reducing waste and increasing safety and profitability.
 
- Ensure proper line start-up procedures: verify order calculations, review dough sheets, check equipment conditions, set and monitor temperatures, etc.
 
- Create and manage staff schedules to ensure the production line is properly staffed for each shift.
 
- Enforce safety rules, practices, and lockout/tag-out procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
 
- Maintain and complete daily, weekly and monthly records related to production operations, key performance indicators, safety, quality and order completion.
 
- Lead, train, mentor and provide feedback to production team members to enhance performance and capability.
 
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Sanitation and Shipping departments to minimize downtime and optimize workflow.
 
- Spend time on the production floor regularly to monitor operations, address issues proactively, and ensure the schedule is met.
 
- Interpret and enforce company policies and relevant regulations; proactively identify and report potential safety issues.
 
- Perform other job-related duties as required.
 
What You Bring
- 3 to 5 years’ supervisory experience in a large-scale bakery manufacturing environment (experience with puff pastry manufacturing is preferred).
 
- High School Diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in business, food science or technical trade is an asset.
 
- Strong understanding of GMP and Health & Safety standards, with the ability to enforce and model them.
 
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
 
- Ability to work independently, make sound operational decisions with minimal supervision.
