Job Title: Staff Accountant
Department: Accounting
Reports To: Controller
Job Type: Full-Time (Hybrid: 2 days in office, 3 days remote)
Salary Range: $60,000–$65,000 CAD

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant will support the Accounting department by maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, and assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with multiple entities across Canada and the United States.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Recordkeeping

  • Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software.
  • Record and classify financial transactions appropriately.
  • Support accounting functions for multiple Canadian and U.S. entities.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process invoices, verify expenses, and manage vendor payments.
  • Reconcile AP and AR accounts in both local and foreign currencies.
  • Communicate with vendors and internal teams regarding payment timing and prioritization.
  • Assist with accounts receivable collection efforts and customer account reconciliations.

Bank & Credit Card Reconciliation

  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Monitor cash flow and proactively flag irregularities.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare financial reports for management review.
  • Support additional accounting tasks and special projects as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Proven experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop (Enterprise), QBO, CommonSKU, and MS Office.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
