Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join the accounting team. The successful candidate will take a lead role in full-cycle accounting, monthly close processes, financial reporting, and compliance. This position is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional looking for meaningful work in a stable and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Accounting
- Manage daily accounting activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Maintain and oversee the general ledger to ensure accurate financial data.
Month-End & Year-End Close
- Lead month-end close activities and ensure timely, accurate financial statements.
- Prepare year-end working papers and support external audits.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare internal financial statements and management reports.
- Analyze financial performance and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
AP/AR Oversight
- Review accounts payable and receivable processes for accuracy and timeliness.
- Resolve discrepancies and ensure appropriate documentation.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards and internal control procedures.
- Maintain organized financial records and support ongoing process improvements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Partner with operations and management teams on cross-functional initiatives.
- Provide ad hoc reporting and support special projects as needed.
- Assist with continuous improvement of accounting workflows.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (manufacturing/industrial sector an asset).
- Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting principles.
- Proficiency with accounting software and MS Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a family-oriented environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
