Payroll Manager (Standalone) – Manufacturing | North York (On-Site)

Our well-established manufacturing client is seeking a hands-on Payroll Manager to take full ownership of payroll operations across Canada. This standalone role will manage high-volume weekly payroll for approximately 800 employees across 12 locations, including both unionized and non-union environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior payroll professional who enjoys improving processes, working closely with HR and Finance, and delivering accurate, timely payroll in a fast-paced multi-
site organization.
Compensation & Work Structure
- Salary: $90,000 – $105,000 per year
- RRSP matching up to $2,000 annually
- Permanent full-time | Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- On-site role – North York
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle payroll processing using ADP Workforce Now for ~800 employees
- Process weekly payroll, including a bi-weekly structure across multiple employee groups
- Administer union and non-union payroll (approx. 50/50 workforce mix) across 3 collective agreements
- Oversee earnings, deductions, shift premiums, bonuses, vacation pay, and benefits administration
- Maintain strong relationships with benefits vendors and support employee inquiries
- Prepare and submit statutory remittances, year-end reporting (T4s, ROEs), and payroll reconciliations
- Generate weekly payroll reports and analytics for senior leadership using advanced Excel skills
- Collaborate closely with HR Managers to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance
- Identify opportunities to modernize payroll processes and reduce manual tasks
- Support evaluation of future payroll system enhancements or migration (e.g., Workday, UKG)
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation and company policies
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of progressive payroll experience, ideally in a manufacturing or multi-site environment
- Experience managing high-volume weekly payroll in unionized settings
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and best practices
- Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now
- PCP designation required
- Strong Excel and payroll reporting skills
- Proven problem-solving ability and customer-focused approach when dealing with employees
- Experience with benefits administration
