Position Summary
The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing engineering drawings to determine the appropriate piping layout and materials, ensuring efficient and safe installation. This role involves cutting, bending, and assembling pipes using tools such as bending machines, flame cutters, and welding equipment to create precise systems that handle high-pressure substances reliably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings to plan piping layouts, installations, and repairs.
  • Cut, bend, thread, and assemble pipes using tools such as torches, saws, and benders.
  • Install and secure piping systems using brackets, clamps, and welding equipment.
  • Modify and maintain existing pipe systems and related equipment.
  • Select appropriate pipe sizes, materials, and fittings based on project specifications.
  • Prepare and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for builds.
  • Perform drilling, tapping, measuring, and marking for pipe preparation.
  • Follow daily housekeeping practices and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Comply with all safety regulations, policies, and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain consistent attendance, complete documentation, and perform additional duties as needed.

Key Qualifications & Education

  • High school diploma required.
  • Completion of formal apprenticeship and technical training from an accredited Canadian college.
  • Demonstrated on-the-job training experience.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering and technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of mathematical concepts and measuring tools.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Solid knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and cost efficiency principles.
  • Strong understanding of safety practices and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with physical principles and laws related to material dynamics, fluid systems, thermodynamics, and electrical theory.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time role, 40–60 hours per week.
  • Standard work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
  • Overtime may include days, afternoons, nights, and weekends.
  • Work is performed in a plant environment.
  • Exposure to hazardous mechanical equipment, corrosive substances, and loud noise.
  • Frequent heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs.
  • Some travel may be required, primarily within Ontario (e.g., Windsor to Toronto).
