Position: Part-Time Lab Technician (Evaluation-to-Hire / Contract-to-Hire)

Our client, a global leader in human and animal nutrition and the world’s premier agricultural origination and processing company, is seeking a Part-Time Lab Technician for an evaluation-to-hire (contract-to-hire) opportunity. This role offers hands-on laboratory work in a dynamic production environment with the potential to transition into a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct wet chemistry and handle various chemicals.
  • Prepare and process samples for analysis of raw materials, finished feed products (soybean meal, canola meal, hulls), and finished food products (edible oil).
  • Perform analytical testing using standard laboratory apparatus and record results in a computerized data system.
  • Calibrate and perform minor maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of all testing procedures.
  • Conduct daily monitoring tests throughout the facility.
  • Retrieve samples directly from the production area.

Key Qualifications:

  • Three-year diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and other software systems is an asset.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of OHSA standards, GMPs, HACCP, and other feed/food safety standards.

Additional Information:

  • This position begins as a part-time, call-in role. Hours may vary week to week, and no minimum hours are guaranteed. The schedule can be sporadic, with limited notice for shifts. Please apply only if you’re comfortable with this type of flexible work arrangement.
  • Regular, punctual attendance required.
  • Ability to climb stairs, lift up to 25 lbs, and sit/stand for extended periods.
  • Must complete company-sponsored training as required.
  • Adherence to health and safety standards, including immediate reporting of unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Compliance with all local/provincial legislation and company EHS requirements.
  • Candidates must have authorization, and maintain authorization, to work legally in Canada.
