Job Full Description
We are seeking a skilled HVAC Journeyperson (313A) to join a fast-paced, state-of-the-art manufacturing environment. The HVAC Mechanic will be responsible for performing a variety of operational and maintenance tasks to ensure the facility’s efficient and safe operation. This includes monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining environmental control systems, as well as assisting in the commissioning of new equipment and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and overhaul environmental control equipment such as condenser units, pumps, air handlers, heat exchangers, dehumidifiers, and other mechanical systems
- Monitor and maintain equipment to control areas within strict specifications (35%, 10%, and 1% relative humidity zones)
- Identify maintenance risks on equipment and diagnose both electrical and mechanical faults
- Identify parts and materials required for repairs and maintain refrigerant inventory
- Assist in training apprentices and supporting commissioning checks for new equipment
- Participate in incident reporting, problem solving, and root cause investigations
- Apply problem-solving methodology to assist in reducing utility costs
- Follow established work procedures and safety standards at all times
- Conduct all activities and interactions in a professional manner
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial and/or industrial HVAC experience
- Valid 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic license
- TSSA Gas Technician 2 or 3 certification
- Valid G-class driver’s license with a clean abstract
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Willing and able to work plant shutdowns, weekends, and holidays as required
- Willing and able to work overtime, sometimes on short notice
Preferred Qualifications
- TSSA Gas Technician 1 certification (asset)
- ODP certification
- Strong ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of HVAC systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings
- Strong understanding of HVAC safety practices and regulations
- Experience with sorption dehumidifiers (desiccant wheel units) is an asset
- Self-motivated with strong initiative, problem-solving ability, and sound judgment
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Email)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
