Engineer. Infrastructure Planning
Description
will provide professional engineering services for a variety of activities directly related to Dam Safety Programs comprising dam safety reviews, inspections and analyses; emergency management; operations, maintenance and surveillance oversight and reporting; and dam safety management.
this employee will provide professional engineering advice to Infrastructure work groups
Responsibilities
Conduct internal dam safety reviews, specialized dam safety inspections and assessments at select dams; coordinate and monitor technical monitoring and/or early warning systems; prepare and/or review applicable reports, drawings, and other technical data to ensure adequate documentation of work activities and dam conditions and performance.
Prepare professional services agreements for specialized dam safety activities, provide resident engineering services, and undertake various contract administrative duties; and prepare and/or review applicable expenditure and technical reports.
Prepare dam safety documents including emergency preparedness and response plans and operation, maintenance, and surveillance manuals; and assist in preparation of directives for key dam safety activities.
Prepare and/or assist in preparing annual and long-term work plans, monthly and annual activity reports, activity/issue tracking spreadsheets, and other applicable documentation required for the management of Dam Safety Program.
Provide support to dam operations and maintenance, project engineering and engineering assessment activities as required; participate in the activities of professional dam safety organizations, respond to internal and external requests for project information; assist in training and mentoring other unit staff in engineering methods and techniques; and undertake other professional engineering duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Educational and Experience Requirements and Technical Qualifications:
Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
a licence to practice professional engineering from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
Ten plus years of related experience

knowledge and broad engineering experience.
direction of project work consisting of inspections, assessments, dam safety reviews, and dam safety management activities.
ability to understand the interaction with other activities and coordinate different tasks and functions.
communication with other business units regarding operating, maintenance, assessment and rehabilitation needs for water management infrastructure, and effective risk management.
ability to build and nurture effective working relationships both within the organization and with external consultants is critical to the success of the program.
