Job Full Description

The Instrumentation Journeyman is responsible for the repair and calibration of various types of equipment, per the manufacturer’s recommended requirements, while upholding the fundamental concepts of our Client's Quality Management System.

Position Responsibilities:
• Take direction and fulfil responsibilities from the Team Lead: Instrumentation & Measurement and the Division Manager.
• Troubleshoot various equipment and systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on instrumentation (calibration, replacement and tests as required); maintain instrumentation records and shop recorders in compliance with company requirements, Provincial and Federal legislation.
• Review and apply a continuous improvement mindset to safe work practices, procedures and standards to ensure safe and reliable work execution.
• Inspect and evaluate the operation of instruments and systems using precision measuring devices, pneumatic and electrical/ electronic testing devices to diagnose problems and
calibrate the instruments.
• Repair and adjust system components including sensors, transmitters, transducers, digital and analog gauges, chart recorders, electronica flow measurement devices, regulators, pressure switches, level and pressure controls.
• Set up control systems for proper operation of equipment.
• Calibrate components and instruments in compliance with manufacturers’ specifications and API specifications.
• Using hand, pneumatic and electric tools, precision measuring and testing instruments to perform testing and repairs.
• Calibration of digital and analog pressure gauges following established techniques and procedures.
• Repair and calibration of other measurement including liquid meters, turbine and positive displacement meters, chart recorders, transmitters, pressure and temperature transducers and regulators.
• Perform shop and field liquid meter proving (volumetric and mass).
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on all shop equipment.
• Completion of documentation from start to completion of jobs (receiving reports, EI&M job tracker, work order, packing slip and Invoice).
• Initiation of Nonconformance reports where inventoried, purchased, manufactured, serviced product or services do not meet Purchase Order, Contract, Work Order requirements, and Manufacturer specifications.
• Tube bending and pressure testing of tubing systems.
• Demonstrate a safety conscious attitude at all times
• Perform self-study training on QHSE Procedures

Education and Training:
• Journeyman Instrumentation Technician Certificate
• Safety certificates: First Aid, H2S Alive, TDG, WHMIS, Working Alone, Working at Heights
• Process experience
• Understanding of all applicable codes, regulations and registered documentation:
- Directive 017 Measurement Requirements for the Oil and Gas Operations Directive 049, Gas Density Measurement
- Directive 060, Upstream Industry Flare and Venting reporting
- Directive 076, Operations Declaration regarding measurement and reporting requirements
• API testing and reporting requirements
• Volumetric and Mass flow liquid meter proving

Competencies:
• Customer and product support knowledge, specific to client and field applications
• Strong knowledge of the Industrial, Commercial and Oil & Gas industry standards.
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail in all work
• Good verbal and written communication skills, able to provide explanations on work activities to onsite customer inquiries
• Manual dexterity, good mathematical, scientific and mechanical abilities
• Confidentiality, including design and development as well as company sensitive information
• Ability to work safely and autonomously and provide direction to other technicians and apprentices
