Express Employment Professionals – Fraser Valley is currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a designated CPA to join an Indigenous community-focused organization as a Financial Officer. This full-time, permanent role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to financial operations that support various programs and related entities..

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform bank, general ledger, and investment reconciliations.
  • File GST returns specific to the public sector.
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Support year-end and annual budgeting processes.
  • Assist with developing and updating finance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial controls.
  • Post interdepartmental charges and keep budgets up to date in accounting software.
  • Prepare audit-ready working papers and maintain general ledgers.
  • Help implement audit recommendations and strengthen internal processes.
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of all financial data.
  • Provide financial and administrative support across departments and related properties.
  • Generate timely, accurate financial statements and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial reporting requirements.
  • Train staff on financial systems and policies as needed.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required – applications without this will not be considered
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Senior Accountant.
  • Strong understanding of AP, AR, payroll, and financial reconciliation processes.
  • Experience with Sage 300 is an asset.
  • Previous experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations is a strong asset.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
