Express Employment Professionals – Fraser Valley is currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Finance Officer to join a community-focused organization in a full-time, permanent role. This position offers a dynamic and meaningful opportunity to contribute to financial operations that support various programs and related entities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform bank, general ledger, and investment reconciliations.
- File GST returns specific to the public sector.
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Support year-end and annual budgeting processes.
- Assist with developing and updating finance policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial controls.
- Post interdepartmental charges and keep budgets up to date in accounting software.
- Prepare audit-ready working papers and maintain general ledgers.
- Help implement audit recommendations and strengthen internal processes.
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of all financial data.
- Provide financial and administrative support across departments and related properties.
- Generate timely, accurate financial statements and reports.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial reporting requirements.
- Train staff on financial systems and policies as needed.
- Identify and recommend process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent experience.
- CPA designation required.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Senior Accountant.
- Strong understanding of AP, AR, payroll, and financial reconciliation processes.
- Experience with Sage 300 is an asset.
- Previous experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations is a strong asset.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
