Overview
Express Employment Professionals is recruiting on behalf of a respected community-focused organization seeking a Program Coordinator to lead and oversee a culturally supportive early childhood program.
This position is a one-year contract role covering maternity leave and offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact supporting children, families, and community members.The Program Coordinator will provide leadership, oversee daily program operations, supervise staff, and ensure programs operate in compliance with provincial childcare licensing requirements.This role is ideal for someone with a background in youth counselling, education, social services, or elementary teaching who is passionate about supporting children and families in a culturally respectful environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership
- Coordinate and oversee daily operations of the childcare and early learning program
- Ensure programming aligns with community goals and program standards
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism when working with children, families, and staff
- Monitor program quality and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Team Leadership:
- Supervise, mentor, and support program staff and volunteers
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations
- Maintain employee files and ensure compliance with licensing requirements
- Facilitate regular staff meetings and professional development opportunities
Administration & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with provincial childcare licensing regulations
- Maintain accurate program documentation and reporting
- Oversee program budgets and monitor expenditures
- Approve staff timesheets and manage administrative records
- Coordinate training opportunities for staff and families
Community Engagement
- Build positive relationships with families, Elders, and community partners
- Communicate program updates and events through newsletters and outreach
- Represent the program in community initiatives and meetings when required
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Youth Counselling, Social Services, Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field
- Elementary school teaching experience may also be considered
- Minimum 3 years leadership or program coordination experience preferred
- Experience working with children, families, or community programs
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Experience managing budgets and administrative systems is an asset
- Proficiency with computer systems and basic office software
