Production Shop Helper
Location: Guelph, ON
Full-Time| Monday to Friday 8am-4:30pm
About the Role:
Express Employment Professionals Guelph is hiring on behalf of a reputable company for a Production Shop Helper. This is a hands-on role supporting the Supervisor and working closely with the team in a small shop environment. The successful candidate will be trained on specialized processes, including the use of an Oxy-Acetylene Torch, and will play a key part in preparing, coating, and finishing parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize an Oxy-Acetylene Torch to apply coatings to parts (training provided – takes a few weeks to learn)
- Grind, prep, and mark parts using hand-grinding tools and angle grinders
- Perform general clean-up and maintain a safe, organized work area
- Read and interpret blueprints to complete tasks accurately
- Use measuring tools, including micrometers, to verify part specifications
- Support the Supervisor and contribute to a strong team-focused environment
- Operate shop equipment, including lift-trucks and sandblasters (training provided if required)
- Safely handle products typically weighing 30–40 lbs (up to 80 lbs with crane assistance available)
Qualifications:
- Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools such as micrometers
- Welding experience is an asset, particularly with Oxy-Acetylene Torch
- Experience in a small shop or manufacturing environment is preferred
- Experience operating a lift-truck is an asset
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to support both the Supervisor and colleagues
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn new processes
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs regularly and 80 lbs occasionally with crane assistance
