Truck Body Maintenance Technician / Millwright
Express Employment Professionals is currently recruiting for 2 Truck Body Maintenance Technicians / Millwrights to join a growing team in Guelph, Ontario.
Position Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire.
Shift: Days 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday.
Pay: $28–$42/hour based on experience.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidates will diagnose, repair, install, and maintain a variety of equipment and truck body systems.
Unlike traditional truck repair facilities, this company specializes in truck body and equipment systems rather than chassis or drivetrain repairs. Technicians work on the hydraulic, electrical, and structural components that keep specialized vehicles operating safely and efficiently.
This role is ideal for a mechanically skilled individual with experience working with hydraulic, electrical, and structural systems in an industrial, heavy equipment, truck body, or similar environment.
Key Responsibilities
Hydraulic Systems
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic system failures.
- Replace and repair cylinders, pumps, motors, valves, hoses, and fittings.
- Perform hydraulic system testing and preventative maintenance.
- Read and interpret hydraulic schematics and troubleshooting documentation.
Electrical Systems
- Diagnose and repair electrical system issues.
- Install and troubleshoot vehicle cameras and recording systems.
- Install and service onboard weigh scale systems.
- Perform wiring repairs, component replacements, and electrical testing.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and service manuals.
Structural & Body Repairs
- Repair and rebuild truck body components and equipment structures.
- Perform fabrication, cutting, fitting, and welding as required.
- Replace damaged body panels, structural members, and mounting components.
- Install, remove, and repair tippers and grippers used with waste cart systems.
- Complete repairs in accordance with manufacturer and safety standards.
General Service Duties
- Perform Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs).
- Complete warranty repairs in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
- Diagnose and repair equipment from a variety of manufacturers.
- Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, service advisors, the parts department, and customers.
Qualifications
Required
- Millwright certification, Heavy Equipment Technician, Truck & Coach Technician, or equivalent mechanical experience.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and shop machinery.
- Valid Ontario G Driver's Licence; DZ licence is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred / Assets
- Experience working on waste collection equipment, refuse bodies, recycling equipment, or vocational trucks.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience working with DC electrical systems.
- Experience installing cameras, data recorders, and onboard scale systems.
- Manufacturer certifications or related technical training.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to work in both shop and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, lying down, climbing, and working at heights.
- Comfortable working around hydraulic and heavy mechanical equipment.
