About the Position:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting, auditing, and tax-related tasks to support client engagements under the supervision of senior staff and managers. This position provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across multiple industries while developing foundational knowledge in public accounting
As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for the following:
- Maintain books of accounts, journal entries, reconciliations
- Reconcile accounts
- Prepare trial balance of books
- Maintain general ledgers and financial statements
- Calculate and prepare cheques for payroll
- Calculating and preparing GST/HST, payroll and other government remittances
- Preparing T4’s, T4A’s, and T5018’s
- Preparing corporate income tax returns
- Completing WSIB and EHT filings
- Recording investments either using Excel or using specific software program
- Preparing personal income tax returns
- Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems

The successful candidate will have:
- Post-secondary education, with a focus on accounting preferred
- CPA Designation NOT required for this position
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in a public accounting firm preferred
- Bookkeeping experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
