Position Overview

As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will play a key role in assisting with the preparation of financial statements, managing accounts, and supporting the firm’s overall accounting processes. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a solid understanding of accounting principles who is looking to grow their career in a dynamic firm. You will work under the supervision of senior account managers and managers, contributing to the efficient and accurate handling of client accounts.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Statements and Engagements

  • Independently prepare financial statements and working papers for Audit, Review, and Compilation engagements.
  • Provide support to clients with bookkeeping assistance, ensuring accurate records for financial reviews.

Government Remittances and Filings

  • Calculate and prepare GST/HST, payroll, and other government remittances to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare T4’s, T4A’s, T5’s, T3’s, and T5018’s for accurate reporting of employee and contractor income.
  • Complete WSIB and EHT filings as required.

Tax Returns

  • Prepare corporate and personal income tax returns with attention to detail and compliance with regulations.

Financial Analysis and Decision Support

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial analysis and support decision-making processes with accurate financial data.

Accounting Software and Reporting

  • Utilize accounting software such as Caseware, QuickBooks, Xero, and Sage to record transactions, generate reports, and ensure financial accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation or successful completion of CFE
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Good understanding of corporate and individual tax compliance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage client relationships.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
