Job Full Description
We are currently recruiting for a Public Bookkeeper to join our client’s team in Burnaby. This is a full-time, permanent position reporting directly to the Office Manager and Bookkeeping Manager.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in public accounting and a genuine passion for delivering high-quality bookkeeping and accounting services to monthly clients.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of public accounting experience (mandatory)
- At least 3 years of full-cycle accounting experience
- College diploma or university degree with a concentration in Accounting
- Proficiency with MS Office, QuickBooks (Online & Desktop), and Sage 50 / Simply Accounting
- Strong knowledge of payroll and tax preparation, including T4 and T5 slips, and tax compliance regulations
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working during high-volume periods, including paid overtime during tax season
- References and background check required upon further consideration
Key Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Office Manager and Bookkeeping Manager
- Perform full-cycle accounting for a diverse client base, including small and medium-sized businesses
- Communicate with clients to ensure their bookkeeping and accounting needs are met
- Build and maintain strong professional client relationships
- Accurately process and maintain financial records
- Provide client support and training on Sage 50 and QuickBooks (Online & Desktop) as required
- Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive financial data professionally
- Collaborate closely with internal team members and clients
- Work paid overtime during peak periods, including tax season, to meet client demands
