Overview:
We are currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Payroll & Accounting Specialist to join our client's team at a transportation company in Brampton. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in payroll processing and general accounting who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees in compliance with labor laws and company policies
- Accurately track employee hours, overtime, and deductions using timekeeping systems
- Maintain payroll records and ensure proper documentation for audits and compliance
- Prepare and submit government remittances including WSIB, ROEs, and payroll tax filings
- Handle employee inquiries regarding payroll and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Support daily accounting operations including accounts payable and receivable
- Reconcile bank statements, invoices, and vendor accounts
- Assist with monthly journal entries and month-end reporting
- Generate internal financial reports for management
- Help prepare documentation for year-end audits
Qualifications:
- Experience in payroll and general accounting
- Knowledge of payroll legislation and employment standards
- Proficiency with payroll and accounting software (e.g., ADP, QuickBooks, Sage)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent time management and communication skills
- Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Payroll, or a related field is an asset
