Job Full Description
Are you a skilled Diesel Mechanic looking for a dynamic and hands-on role? We’re currently recruiting for a full-time, permanent Diesel Mechanic to join a busy and fast-paced team in Sarnia. In this role, you’ll be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and a variety of equipment used in transportation and yard operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, repair, and maintain diesel engines in trucks, trailers, transports, and yard equipment
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using testing equipment and interpret results to determine necessary repairs
- Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts as needed
- Remove, overhaul, assemble, disassemble, and replace major assemblies and components (e.g., powertrain, brakes, steering, electrical, A/C, fuel, and emission systems)
- Perform routine maintenance work and thorough cleanings on engines and related systems
- Run diagnostic tests and analyze results to ensure performance standards are met
- Respond to on-call service requests for breakdowns or emergency repairs
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
- Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components and vehicle systems
- Proficient with automotive and shop tools
- Strong understanding of diagnostic testing procedures
- Physically fit and capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
- Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Aptitude for mathematics and science
- Previous experience working with diesel trucks, trailers, and yard equipment is an asset
- Willingness to work on-call and be available for after-hours service calls
Wage: $35.00/Hour
