Job Full Description
Our client in Corunna is seeking a Payroll Assistant to support the payroll department with processing and administrative tasks during a contract period. This hybrid role includes both in-office and remote work and requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a solid understanding of payroll procedures and union compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll, including new hires, terminations, and changes, ensuring accurate and timely submission to the payroll provider
- Enter and maintain payroll data not integrated through HR systems
- Calculate retroactive pay, overpayments, and rate changes
- Ensure union payroll compliance per collective agreements
- Generate reports for HR, Operations, and other departments
- Track vacation, sick time, and accruals per policies and agreements
- Manage stop payments, cheque requests, and direct deposit issues
- Prepare and file Records of Employment (ROEs) with Service Canada
- Administer garnishments and related deductions
- Reconcile payroll records and resolve discrepancies
- Support year-end processing including T4s and taxable benefit adjustments
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management
- Perform other payroll-related duties as assigned
Wage: $24.00/Hour
Job Type: Contract (Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Location: Corunna, ON
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8AM -5PM
