Express has partnered with QuickStart Autism, a Kanata-based charity, to find an organized and enthusiastic Administrative Assistant to join their tight-knit team. QuickStart Autism’s mission is to help children reach their full potential by facilitating access to early intervention at the first signs of autism. The organization raises awareness, develops programs to reduce wait times, builds community capacity, and advocates for advancements in early identification and intervention.

Key Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):

  • Support the planning and execution of annual fundraising events, including the golf tournament, gala dinner, and online auction
  • Assist in coordinating special initiatives such as the Sensory Santa event
  • Serve as a liaison and primary point of contact for QuickStart Autism’s programs
  • Communicate with families who have concerns about their child’s development, providing information and guidance about available services
  • Prepare and distribute monthly newsletters to stakeholders and supporters
  • Provide support to families accessing QuickStart’s services, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and on time
  • Respond to general inquiries by phone and email in a professional and timely manner
  • Maintain and update accurate spreadsheets and databases of organizational information
  • Draft, proofread, and edit documents, including public notices and program materials
  • Contribute to creating engaging content for QuickStart Autism’s social media platforms
  • Other duties as assigned by the CEO

Required skills and qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of administrative experience; experience in a charity or non-profit environment considered a strong asset
  • Proficiency with SharePoint (required)
  • Microsoft Excel skills — intermediate level preferred
  • Familiarity with Mac software (MacOS)Microsoft TeamsMailchimp, and Canva
  • Strong verbal communication skills; comfortable speaking on the phone and discussing sensitive topics, including asking if a child has been diagnosed with autism
  • Charity fundraising experience considered an asset
  • Familiarity with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or a passion for supporting individuals with autism, with a specific interest in early intervention strategies and services for children with autism, and a commitment to driving positive change
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to proofread and edit documents
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Resourceful, proactive, and able to take initiative
  • Flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and respectful of confidentiality
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities

Monday to Friday – 9:00am to 5:00pm

Starting salary range: $48,750 to $54,600 per year
